Basic concepts

In accordance with Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the Federal Government's data protection provisions (DSG), everyone has the right to the protection of their privacy and to protection against the misuse or fraudulent use of their personal data. We do our utmost to comply with the regulations in force.

The website operator takes data protection very seriously and treats your personal data confidentially and with the utmost care.
New technologies and the constant development of this site mean that this document setting out our data protection policy may need to be adapted. We therefore recommend that you read our updated statement from time to time.

Type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data

SIM Switzerland collects, processes and uses personal data as part of the process of receiving donations for SIM Switzerland and communicating with donors and interested parties.

Personal data is specific information relating to the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural or legal person. This includes in particular name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, donation transactions and publications subscribed to.

This data is collected, processed and used, on the one hand, for the purposes of communication with the person concerned and, on the other hand, for the compulsory storage of transaction data.

Transfer to third parties

SIM Switzerland manages personal data itself. Apart from the exceptions described below, this data will not be disclosed to third parties outside SIM Switzerland. It does not sell or rent personal data.

In the case of earmarked donations, the name, address and amount of the transaction will be forwarded to the project managers and/or employees concerned for the purpose of sending a letter of thanks and/or drafting a report. These project managers and collaborators are employees of SIM Switzerland or a partner organisation. Employees of SIM Switzerland and partner organisations may work in Switzerland or abroad and process data received in Switzerland or abroad.

Credit card data is processed by SIX Payment Services AG, Hardturmstrasse 201, 8005 Zurich or PostFinance AG, Mingerstrasse 20, 3030 Berne, Switzerland. They are not transmitted to or stored by SIM Switzerland.
For occasional publications, the name and e-mail address are stored in MailChimp, The Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.

E-mail communication is managed, processed and stored by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA.

Personal data may be passed on to competent and authorised authorities insofar as SIM Switzerland is legally obliged to do so. In this case, the purpose is to protect the public interest or to establish, exercise or assert legal claims before a court or administrative authority.

Data security

SIM Suisse takes all measures within its power and according to current technical possibilities to guarantee the security of personal data against fraudulent access or use.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the disclosure of personal data online is at your own risk. Data sent via the Internet may be lost or fall into the hands of unauthorised persons.

Right to inspect, correct and delete

You have the right at any time to :
  • request information free of charge about your personal data stored by SIM Suisse,
  • have your personal data corrected by SIM Suisse,
  • have your personal data deleted by the Swiss SIM,
  • change whether and to what extent you wish to be contacted by the Swiss SIM.

These rights do not apply to transaction data for which the Swiss SIM is legally obliged to respect a limited storage time.
